Hugo Ekitike recently opened up about his experience at Paris Saint-Germain, a period marked by limited opportunities and a lack of confidence from the club. Arriving during a season when Lionel Messi and Neymar were still key figures in the squad, the young French forward found himself struggling for game time. “Try making them sit out… you can’t,” he admitted, highlighting the difficulty of earning minutes in a team dominated by two of the best players in the world.

Despite his determination to prove himself, Ekitike was only given brief chances, alternating between short cameos and long spells on the bench. He acknowledges that he could have done better but also regrets the lack of support from those around him at the club. “They never really took the time to talk to me to help me improve,” he revealed, pointing out a lack of communication and guidance. His integration into the squad was never truly facilitated, which limited his development and ability to showcase his full potential.

Now looking for a fresh start, Hugo Ekitike aims to move on and find an environment that will allow him to grow. His story sheds light on the challenges faced by many young talents at top clubs, where competition is fierce and proper mentorship is often missing. It remains to be seen where the forward will land next to prove that he indeed has the level he believes in.
